Everything Biscuits

Shall we have the basic Biscuit With a tantalizing Twist

Biscuits

  • all-purpose flour [2 cups all-purpose flour]

  • sugar

  • salt [1/2 teaspoon salt]

  • baking powder [1 tablespoon baking powder]

  • cream of tartar

  • COLD butter [1/2 cup shortening]

  • egg

  • Milk {3/4 cup milk]Or Butter milk {1 to 2 Quarts more as needed}

  1. Preheat oven to 450 degrees F (230 degrees C).

  2. In a large mixing bowl sift together flour, baking powder and salt. Cut in shortening with fork or pastry blender until mixture resembles coarse crumbs.

  3. Pour milk into flour mixture while stirring with a fork. Mix in milk until dough is soft, moist and pulls away from the side of the bowl.

  4. Turn dough out onto a lightly floured surface and toss with flour until no longer sticky. Roll dough out into a 1/2 inch thick sheet and cut with a floured biscuit or cookie cutter. Press together unused dough and repeat rolling and cutting procedure.

  5. Place biscuits on ungreased baking sheets and bake in preheated oven until golden brown, about 10 minutes.

Now... that nice but what if you want to make fancy Biscuits, well come on let me show you some Fancy Biscuits.

Simple way to do this replace flower with cake batter for each of these cakes

Red velvet biscuits and cream cheese chicken gravy

In a large mixing bowl sift together red velvet, baking powder and salt. Cut in shortening with fork or pastry blender until mixture resembles coarse crumbs.

Pour milk {buttermilk up to 1-2 quarts} into cake mixture while stirring with a fork. Mix in milk until dough is soft, moist and pulls away from the side of the bowl.

Turn dough out onto a lightly floured surface and toss with flour until no longer sticky. Roll dough out into a 1/2 inch thick sheet and cut with a floured biscuit or cookie cutter. Press together unused dough and repeat rolling and cutting procedure.

For the gravy get a Chicken gravy packet, ad ricatta cheese. Cream cheese to the bowl half the normal amount of sugar, a whole jar of chicken gravy... it gives a perfect sweet and salty taste

Chocolate Biscuits

Oatmeal biscuits

Now it takes another few steps to do the stews, pot pie and shepherd's pie.

Pot pie Biscuits

So you make your Pot pie filling or [you can cheat and get progresso Pot Pie soup} filling Potato chopped cooked pea’s carrots and Chicken gravy corn and finely diced chicken {as we remember I’m vegan so I use my Tofurky Chicken or quorn} you do your Biscuite dough mix.

Now you are going to pour your filling into the Biscuit down and mix it together slowly ad flower if its to wet once it meets the right consistency cut with your cookie cutter {no cutter use a mug instead} let them set up and then put them in the 450 degree oven.  and place them in the oven 15minuts until Brown take out butter let cool and dig in

You can do this same thing with beef stew and shepherd's pie

Beef stew biscuits

Shepard pie

Last thing you do that is different for the shepherd pie is you take Mashed potato's {or if you want to get fancy Sweet potato whipped}

Spread it on the top like Frosting and serve.
